Mothers Day ... Remember and Reflecting

My mother passed away suddenly on August 25, 2003, just 27 short days after our oldest child was born 11 1/2 weeks early at 2lbs 6oz. We were very blessed that my mother got to see her grandson, but my heart breaks that she never got to hold him. I hate that she never got to meet Lane and Jayla, as I know she would have loved them dearly. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about my Mom.

I came across the following poem and it seemed to resonate with me.

Your Mother Is Always With You...
Your mother is always with you...
She's the whisper of the leaves
as you walk down the street.
She's the smell of bleach
in your freshly laundered socks.
She's the cool hand on your brow
when you're not well.
Your mother lives inside your laughter.
She's crystallized in every tear drop.
She's the place you came from,
your first home...
She's the map you follow
with every step that you take.
She's your first love
and your first heart break...
and nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, Not space...
Not even death...
will ever separate you
from your mother...
You carry her inside of you...

  1. I can sympathize with you on that. my Mom died suddenly the day before my son was born.
